Islamophobia: the fear of, hatred towards, or discrimination against Islam and Muslims
September 11, 2001 sparked a rise in Islamophobia across the United States, with anti-Muslim sentiments reaching an all-time high in 2015. Throughout the years, while efforts have been done to break down/curb these negative stereotypes with the Bush administration declaring Islam as peace and the Obama administration refraining from referring to Islam as terrorist, Islamophobia unfortunately continues to be prevalent amongst American society.
Inspired by Kamila Shamsie's Home Fire, I conducted an analysis of Islamophobia across the United States on Twitter Data with a specific focus on the time period after Trump's Muslim travel ban to current day.
